Description

Cidatum Together with its partner company, SpectralGeo, they have successfully completed the “WinePredicter: a monitoring and prediction tool for vineyard cultivation.”, whose implementation period ends on March 31, 2021, and which has been funded through the 2021 Call for Proposals for Grants Established to Support Innovative Business Consortia by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Tourism, with the aim of improving the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises.

Thanks to the use of remote sensing, image analysis, and artificial intelligence, a agronomic information system for grape cultivation which allows optimize substantially the vineyard management, reduce inputs using maps that enable the application of techniques for precision agriculture and achieve increase production and quality from the grape.

The use of this WebGIS application, allows monitor the vineyard weekly through an alert system related to key parameters of this crop, such as its vigor, vegetative health, or water stress. The system also incorporates, predictive models created using techniques of artificial intelligence, with the goal of to determine the yield potential months in advance and estimate the quality of the grapes in the various vineyards, which will enable farmers to take timely action to increase their profits.

All of this, taking into account the impact on the wine industry, and this process contributes to a substantial improvement in vineyard cultivation, harvest management, and the reception, processing, and transformation of the grapes of the grapes at the winery.

Furthermore, the project has made it possible to strengthen the dissemination and transfer of knowledge on the various digital enablers among the the ICT sector and the wine industry in La Rioja and, on the other hand, this joint initiative will enable its participants to create a new framework within which to foster and promote new joint actions, while at the same time establishing a collaborative framework among companies in both sectors.

This project has received funding from the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Tourism as part of the program to support AEIs, with the aim of helping to improve the competitiveness of Spanish industry.

Benefits

The project has helped strengthen the dissemination and transfer of knowledge about various digital enablers between the ICT sector and the wine industry in La Rioja; furthermore, this joint initiative will enable participants to create a new platform from which to foster and promote new collaborative efforts, while also establishing a framework for collaboration between companies in both sectors.
