The CERES Project: A Success Story in the La Rioja Region

In cereal cultivation, despite efforts and technical guidance promoting their use in integrated pest management, the application of plant protection products remains crucial today for maximizing crop yield and quality. However, determining the optimal time to apply these products poses a significant challenge due to various factors that affect their effectiveness and efficiency. Addressing this issue is essential to ensuring the sustainability and profitability of the cereal sector. The project therefore aims to develop a model for detecting diseases in cereal crops using artificial intelligence, thereby promoting increased efficiency and sustainability through disease control.
SpectralGeo, the project's lead partner, will be responsible for developing and validating the predictive models and creating the digital solution, with the goal of beginning its implementation in time for the next harvest, thereby demonstrating AI's potential to transform agriculture toward a more sustainable and profitable future.
The project is funded through the "Flagship Challenges" call for proposals administered by the General Directorate of Local Policy of the Government of La Rioja.
