Regional Round of the 29th Spanish Informatics Olympiad

Last Friday, March 7, the regional round of the 29th Spanish Computer Science Olympiad was held at the CCT Building at the University of La Rioja.

The Computer Science Olympiad is an individual algorithmic programming competition open to secondary school students (ESO, high school, or intermediate vocational training) under the age of 20 from the Autonomous Community of La Rioja and the Basque Country. It is one of the six Science Olympiads. It is an individual algorithmic programming competition that aims to promote knowledge of algorithms among secondary school students (ESO, Bachillerato, or intermediate vocational training).

The event was organized by the School of Science and Technology, the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of La Rioja, the professional associations of computer engineers, CRiPI, and AERTIC.

The champion of this local round was Marcos Domínguez Gómez, a 12th-grade student at IES Sagasta, and Jialiang Zhang, from IES La Laboral, took second place. Both will represent La Rioja in the national round, which will be held in La Coruña from April 3 to 6.

The top four finishers in the national round will compete in the International Informatics Olympiad in La Paz, Bolivia, from July 27 to August 3, 2025.
